What’s Caused the Pumpkin Drought — And How We’ve Tackled It!
It’s true — 2025 brought a challenging start to the season. An unusually dry spring meant less moisture in the soil right when our pumpkin seeds needed it most. Pumpkins are delicate in their early days, relying on just the right balance of warmth and water to sprout and thrive.
Across the UK, many growers have faced:
- Slower or patchy seed germination due to dry soils
- Stunted plant growth from lack of early rainfall
- Fewer fruits forming, or smaller pumpkins than usual
- Some crops needing to be re-sown entirely
But here's the good news: we’ve been here before — and we know how to adapt.
Thanks to years of pumpkin-growing experience and a lot of careful planning, our farm team has worked hard behind the scenes to give our pumpkins the best chance possible.
