Finally the rain came.....and the Farmer was smiling!

At Foxes Farm Produce, our pick-your-own pumpkin and sunflower patches are thriving, yay!!  The recent rain was a blessing, providing the much-needed water to our growing crops. Think of it as a nice cold beer by the pool on holiday! But it means we are smiling as both sunflowers and pumpkins developing beautifully, preparing for a bountiful harvest season.

The rain this week was a much-welcomed event. For our pumpkins, adequate water is crucial for healthy growth, especially as they are made out of 90% water! Pumpkins require a significant amount of water to support their large leaves and developing fruit. The rain helped replenish the soil moisture, ensuring our plants continue to flourish. 

Pumpkins are known for their expansive leaves, which serve a vital purpose. The large surface area of pumpkin leaves maximizes photosynthesis, the process by which plants convert sunlight into energy. This energy is essential for the growth of the pumpkin vines and the development of their fruit. Additionally, the broad leaves provide shade to the soil, helping to retain moisture and keep the roots cool during hot weather.

As we approach the opening of our fields, our excitement grows. We can't wait to welcome visitors to our farm, where they can experience the joy of picking their own pumpkins and enjoying the vibrant sunflowers. The fields are a testament to the hard work and dedication put into ensuring a successful harvest.
