Braintree Pumpkin Picking – Frequently Asked Questions
Where are you located?
We are a family-run working farm close to Braintree in Essex. If you're at Braintree Village you'll get directions with our exact address and postcode will be listed on our booking page so you can plan your visit easily.
Do I need to book in advance?
Yes. All visitors must book online in advance. This helps us manage visitor numbers and ensures everyone has a safe, enjoyable experience.
When are you open for pumpkin picking?
Pumpkin picking usually opens on selected dates in October, with more frequent sessions running closer to Halloween. Exact opening days vary each year depending on the harvest, so please check our confirmed dates when tickets go live.
How much do pumpkins cost?
Pumpkins are priced by size. Small, medium, large and extra-large pumpkins will each have their own price point. You choose the pumpkin you want, and pay for it at the end.
Are dogs allowed?
Yes, we are proudly dog-friendly. Dogs must stay on a short lead at all times and please clean up after them. We welcome well-behaved dogs and many families visit specifically because we offer a genuinely dog-friendly pumpkin picking experience.
What happens if the weather is bad?
We are an outdoor farm attraction, meaning the patch can be muddy or wet. We remain open in most weather, but in the event of severe weather we may need to adjust opening times. Always check our updates before travelling.
Will it be muddy? What should I wear?
Pumpkin fields can be very muddy, especially after rain. Wellies or old shoes are highly recommended, along with warm layers. Stalks can be prickly, so children may find gloves helpful.
Do you have toilets on site?
Yes. We provide essential facilities including toilets and baby-changing.
Can I pay by card?
Yes, we accept card and contactless payments across the site.
Is the patch suitable for pushchairs and wheelchairs?
As we are a real working farm, pathways can be uneven, soft or muddy depending on the weather. Some visitors find pushchairs manageable, others prefer carriers. If you have specific accessibility needs, we encourage you to contact us before visiting.
Can we bring food or drink?
You’re welcome to bring snacks or a small picnic. We also have refreshments available on site during pumpkin-picking days.
What should we bring with us?
Tickets (on phone or printed), warm clothes, wellies, something to protect your car boot from muddy pumpkins, and a camera for photos.
Are the pumpkins edible?
Yes. Most pumpkins are edible and can be used for soups, bakes and roasting. The seeds can also be eaten or replanted. Check our blog for recipe ideas and ways to reuse your pumpkin sustainably.
Can I change or refund my booking?
Tickets are generally non-refundable and non-transferable, except in the unlikely event that we must close due to severe weather or operational reasons. Please check the terms shown at booking.
Do you offer group bookings or photography sessions?
We can accommodate school groups, clubs and professional photographers during selected times. Please contact us in advance so we can arrange this.
Do you sell pumpkins wholesale?
Yes. We supply pumpkins to farm shops, garden centres and businesses across the UK. Wholesale buyers should get in touch directly for availability and pricing.
